Two days after our Mother’s Day celebration weekend “Sven” and I flew down to Kansas City. Now before I go on, I realized that I didn’t give credit where credit was due on my last posting. Ronnie was a wonderful Hey-Boy while our moms were visiting. Hey-Boy, take us to BuyBuyBaby. Hey-Boy, take us to lunch. Hey-Boy, take us to Babies R Us. Hey-Boy, you look tired…..
He was great, and said that he was happy to drive his three favorite ladies around anywhere we wanted to go.
Back to the Kansas City trip…at the last minute Ronnie realized that he wasn’t going to be able to get away from work to drive down with me. So everything went really smooth getting a flight set up for a couple of days later, and ended up being easier all around. At 7am I left O’Hare for KC to spend a couple of days in the office to get things squared away for my maternity leave, and to see everyone in the office again before I wouldn’t be traveling for a while. After eating my way around Lake and Cook counties the weekend before I continued the eating adventure by hitting my favorite places in KC. Mi Ranchito for lunch on Wednesday, Oklahoma Joe’s for dinner on Wednesday night, and Mi Ranchito again for dinner on Thursday! I did my best to not overeat, because we had our next appointment on Saturday morning.
The office also surprised me with my first baby shower and lunch. It was fun to have time to sit and visit with people that I hadn’t had an opportunity to talk with much since I had arrived. And of course enjoyed the mini key lime cheesecakes and cake with blue baby booties all over it. So much for being good before my appointment.
I was proud that I managed to get everything I needed to from the office, my clothes, and all the gifts in my bag. The only down side to the trip was the delayed flight on the way home. Rather than getting back to O’Hare at 9pm, the flight left KC at 9:30pm and got into O’Hare at 10:45! My bag beat me to baggage claim, so Ronnie had picked up my bag and was walking back toward me by the time I came out of the terminal. Needless to say the 9:15 OB appointment came very early Saturday morning!
