March 14th was the start of the second trimester, and I was surprised to find out that what all the books say is true. I literally woke up one morning feeling refreshed and no longer experiencing the drop-dead tired swings that I had been. I think I did more housework in a couple of days than I had done in the prior 6 weeks! Ronnie was great during those weeks and never said a word when he asked what was for dinner and my response would be “I’m driving down the road to Somethings Brewing, what sandwich do you want?”
My “brother” Jamie was in Chicago for a convention the weekend of March 20th, and we all went out to dinner at a fantastic steak restaurant called Gene and Georgetti’s. It’s been there since the 1930’s (or prior) and our server has been there for 34 years. He was adorable! Point is, I wore my “fat girl pants”, my affectionate name for my maternity pants that I don’t really need to wear yet but do if I’m going to eat a lot. To list off what was on our table at any given time: bread and yummy butter, calamari, salad, HUGE steaks, oven baked potato slices, coffee & key lime cheesecake. Baby and I ate, and ate, and ate some more…the boys didn’t even touch the cheesecake. So my usual small stomach with 6 meals a day managed to put down as much food as Jamie and Ronnie. Needless to say, we had an awesome time!
Our March OB appointment was with Dr. Funkhouser at Lake Forest OB-GYNE. There are 3 practicing doctor’s in the office, and we have to see each one at least once; since you never know who is on call when the baby decides to make it’s grand entrance into the world. Quick appointment, but we got to hear the baby’s heartbeat again, which is always so much fun. Still beating at about 160 bpm.
And now we are up to date on the pregnancy and I’m 16 weeks along. I am just now starting to show a little in my tummy, but really just enough for you to think I’ve been hitting the Girl Scout cookies pretty hard. I now have to either use my Bella Band with my normal jeans, except one pair that are now my favorite, or I just wear my “fat girl pants”. Yup, wearing them now because they are just too darn easy.
Have a great day everyone!
