Landon's first Thanksgiving was spent with our friends Matt & Kristen and their son Grayson who is 3 1/2 weeks younger than Landon. There are no pictures of Landon and Gray together, because Gray was suffering from his first cold, and we were trying to keep Landon from getting it.
Gray's shirt said "I'm Stuffed" which was true, his head was completely stuffed! We introduced Matt & Kristen to the joy of eating dessert first; which is the only way to do Thanksgiving, eat dessert when you can actually enjoy it rather than stuffing yourself beyond comfort! Matt smoked the turkey, which turned out awesome, and we had split the responsibility of the sides, which made preparing dinner really easy on everyone. After 1st dessert and dinner, we sat down and watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. This is another tradition where we kick off the Christmas season with one of the best Christmas movies! It doesn't help that Ronnie and I can practically recite the entire movie, and start laughing well before the one liners are even said. We had a blast!
Another first for Landon, was getting his first Christmas tree. He was so enthused that he slept the entire time we were trying to pick one out the day before Thanksgiving; so much for the Christmas spirit son. Ronnie and I had fun putting up our first REAL Christmas tree (we have done artificial every year before this) since the "bargain" trees at the nursery we went to were only slightly more than a wreath or mantle piece. The tree might not have meant their standards, but we love it, and the house smells so good. Landon loves looking at the lights and ornaments.
The Wednesday before Thanksgiving was also Landon's first night to sleep in his room. He did really well, and I woke up more often just because I was so accustomed to hearing him snort and move around all night that it was strange to NOT hear him. The first two nights I ended up bringing him back into our room in the pack-n-play around 3am, but that had to stop. So now he usually ends up just coming to bed with us around 6am for a half hour, or whenever he wakes up in the morning and is done being alone. Yes, I'm training him to cuddle up and go back to sleep with Mom in the mornings...oh well.
Just to round out this latest post, here is a picture of Landon's 3 month weigh in, he had put on almost 2 pounds in a month. He will eventually stop growing at this rate, but who knows when!
