Pictures Chronicling The First 3 Weeks

Grandma and Grandpa Angell arrived at the hospital around 3pm on Saturday the 4th. They were already coming into town to enjoy the weekend before the planned c-section on Tuesday, but Landon changed the plans and was there waiting for them when they arrived.

At this point it was still a struggle to get out of bed, but I had managed it a couple of times. It was a long process though to get the back of the bed up and the bed lowered so that I would have the least resistance to get up. That was one part that I hadn't thought would be as bad as it was, but the good news was that it got easier each day.

Here is when he was NOT crying and letting the entire floor know that he has a set of strong lungs on him. We ended up staying in the hospital an extra day, rather than going home on Monday, because Landon had lost 10% of his birth weight and our pediatrician thought it would be best to stay the extra night so they could keep and eye on him. While he still lost a 1% that day we were discharged Tuesday afternoon, and after two weight checks that week he was back up to 6 pounds 14 ounces by Friday morning. Almost back to his birth weight of 7 pounds.

Here is Marley meeting Landon on Tuesday afternoon when we got home from the hospital. Ronnie had brought home one of Landon's hats and blankets that he had been wrapped up in so that Marley could get adjusted to the new smell that would be coming into the house. Marley has been very good with Landon. He does think that Landon lives in the pack-n-play on my side of the bed. He would jump up and look over the edge to see Landon, even when I was holding Landon in my arms. Since then, Marley has learned that Landon is everywhere around the house and does follow us to the nursery while I'm nursing and lays down by the glider waiting for us. He has been a very good dog in adjusting to Landon, and the attention that he gets.

Out for our first walk around the block. It was a long walk, because I could only take small steps still; so poor Ronnie and Marley heard me keep asking them to slow down to wait for us. It was nice to get out in the fresh air. Landon loves the motion and falls asleep pretty quickly every time we go for a walk now.

Landon hanging out with Grandma & Grandpa Angell. They were in town until the 20th, and it was such a life saver to have them there. I couldn't carry Landon up the stairs for the first week because of the incisions, and they also allowed me to sleep after most of the times Landon nursed. We didn't have to worry about laundry or what was for dinner, they just took care of everything. Looking back, I couldn't have imagined having a c-section and coming home without all of the extra help. It was wonderful.

Mom, I think we have a situation here. I see a diaper change in my future.

Oh, yeah...feeling better already!

We need to go take care of this Mom!
